EXTENDED WARRANTIES - KEEPING THE BUSINESS MOVING

EXTENTED WARRANTIES - KEEPING THE BUSINESS MOVING

Not ready to replace but need reliable support?

When you have invested your IT budget on new laptops, pc’s or even servers, you would expect that each item will perform perfectly. This is often the case and for many people this would preclude the need for additional investment of an extended warranty. Many would argue that the cost of having an extended warranty in place would be better invested into new equipment and hardware, avoiding using equipment that might be damaged and not fit for purpose. But there are some wider factors to consider.

Financial Outlay

For SME’s and large corporations, it is accepted that extended warranties would not generally be purchased for one or two items. With equipment often purchased in bulk to maximise purchasing power, an extended warranty tends to be for a complete suite of equipment, with high ticket items such as servers being some of the most important warranties to have. You could argue that when investing several thousand pounds for this key piece of business equipment, having an extended warranty makes good business sense if its life can be extended to avoid any business disruption.

The Business Value

With a large ticket item come with large expectations. We have less trust for long-term performance from cheaper hardware such as Notebooks, however, we expect that items such as servers will go the distance. This is in part due to the role that item performs. Servers in particular run the business. It goes down, business stops. So, there is even more reason to further insure your investment and protect it, and the business for the long term.

However, more fragile items such as laptops are frequently dropped or shut down before the hard drive has stopped spinning, resulting in countless issues. Without an extended warranty and without the peace of mind this brings, this will cause huge problems in your IT department and for the business if items cannot be replaced or fixed quickly.

Technical Expertise

The Extended Warranties offered by Technical Reality cover devices and hardware from all of our IT partners, in addition to providing extensive technical expertise for ongoing help and support. An extended warranty can give you the confidence that any issues will be managed by a certified engineer if hardware should fail, helping you to manage your cost centre more effectively.

Service Levels

In many cases you are able to choose the level of service that meets the requirements of your organisation and equipment. This can range from having an engineer onsite and equipment fixed within a short timeframe, to providing spare or new parts.

In summary, having an Extended Warranty boils down to having complete peace of mind in case of any equipment failures, with the further reassurance of a range of service level agreements to choose from. It will allow you to focus on other IT demands, but with the reassurance that if something does go wrong, your warranty covers critical business equipment, and the problem can be quickly fixed.
